vulnerability. it’s a thread that ties together in love, in relationships, in Black being. it’s also the theme that holds the songs of UNARMED — used to mean exposed, naked, seen — together.

exceptional captures the voice of a human, weathered and shaped over time and coming out with a strong sense of their unique, unparalleled being. we release it intentionally at the close of Black History Month, on the cusp of Woman's History Month and on a day that comes around only every four years.

the official bootleg from the 2021 yArt festival includes a live performance of “rosewood,” which draws on the 1928 destruction of the Florida town and was written in solidarity with the Standing Rock uprising. the recorded version is also available on the truthteller ep.

truthteller EP is a triplet of soulful, afroetic-rock reflections on Black experiences, written in the key of rebel noire. the genre-crossing songs weave themes of defiance and freedom, for a sound that feels haunting, visceral and raw.
